Center Of Technical Aid For Disabled People Under Ministry Of Social Security And Labour

The Center is a budgetary institution established in 1992.

The Establisher of the Center is Ministry Of Social Security And Labour of Republic of Lithuania

In 2004 two regional branches of the Center were established in KlaipÄ—da and Å iauliai.

The purpose of activity of the Center: implementation of the system of social integration of disabled people by satisfying special needs of people with movement-bearing, vision and hearing disabilities by the means of technical aids.

Main task: improvement of medical, social and professional rehabilitation of disabled people by means of provision with technical aids (wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, anti-bedsore mattresses, sticks, loupe, talking watches, sticks for blind people etc.)

Technical aids for disabled people enhance human activity, provide opportunity to move freely and independently. The technical aids, meeting individual needs of disabled people, if  timely prescribed and properly fit, reduce the duration of treatment, enhance rehalibitation and integration into social life.

Main functions:
Administration and implementation of Programme of provision of residents with technical aids;
Submitting of proposals to the Ministry regarding improvement of procedures of technical aids, creation of strategic activity plans;
Arrangement of acquisition, provision, repair and individual fitting of technical aids;
Evaluation of accessibility, quality and efficiency of employment of services rendered;
Conducting of research on improvement of technical aids, proposals regarding product quality and standard development issues;
Conducting of research and analysis of demand for technical aids;
Publishing of methodological literature and supply of methodological help with regard to technical aids acquired;
Organization of conferences, workshops, trainings on the issues of acquisition of technical aids, their quality, application, etc.
